August Engagement Summary

Thank you to all volunteer advisory board members who joined us for the South Town Center consensus workshop.

The group came together to identify the most important priorities for the Master Plan. Key themes included:

  • Pedestrian Flow: Participants emphasized the importance of making the entire district safe and welcoming for people walking and biking. This included stronger connections into and out of the area, better circulation within the district, and shifting parking to the edges to reduce its impact.
  • Community Activation Space: The group highlighted the need for flexible gathering spaces that can host festivals, studying, and informal meetups, as well as the importance of including public restrooms to make these spaces usable year-round.
  • Diversity of Retail: Board members encouraged a mix of businesses that appeal to different ages and demographics, ensuring the streets feel lively and inviting at all times of day.

July Engagement Summary

Thank you to all community members that visited our booth at the Mill Creek Festival, July 12 and 13, 2025. The project team logged over 200 comments that will help shape the development of the plan. Most frequent comments included:

  • Desired businesses: Many people shared feedback on specific businesses that you would like to see in the area. While we can’t decide who leases private commercial space, the plan will encourage a diverse, neighborhood-serving mix of shops, services, and gathering places to support a true town center experience.
  • North Creek Trail and Green Space: We heard concerns about the North Creek Trail preservation and the desire for more parks and open space. The North Creek Trail will be preserved and improved as a central feature of the district, and the greenbelt along the trail is a protected area.
  • Design Considerations: Many provided great feedback on design considerations including building height, walkability and other design aspects. As we develop alternatives, we will continue to seek public input on all aspects of design.
